User Acceptance Testing
Course Outline
User Acceptance testing is about the business determining whether a software product built for them is fit for the intended purpose and any remaining risks are well qualified before a deployment decision is taken.
The approach of the course is to present this activity as a process that is part of the bigger software development process. The key questions that are answered are about what should User Acceptance tests achieve, how to design effective tests and how to manage the execution of the testing process. In addition to these core topics, other issues that are essential for performing the process are covered. These include estimation & planning, preparing the environment and reporting structures. This is backed up by practical exercises covering the topics. Key tools such as test management and defect management tools will be presented and the participants are encouraged to try them out.
This course will provide attendees with an understanding of the following areas:
- Understand the position and importance of User Acceptance Testing
- Communicate about UAT using commonly used and agreed testing terminology
- Work as a tester in a user acceptance environment
- Design and document good UAT test cases
- Execute test cases and report on progress
- Report defects and understand the defect lifecycle
- Understand the principles behind the key tools for test management and defect management
