INTRODUCTION TO THE CMMI

Course Outline

This 3 day course provides attendees with a thorough and extensive knowledge of the CMMI. The course systematically examines all 22 Process Areas and Generic Practices, including how when and where they are applicable within an organisation. Process Area inter-relationships are examined in detail. Aimed at process improvement practitioners, attendees will gain a deep understanding of the ‘intent’ of the PA’s and their tailorability.

To gain a detailed understanding of the SEI-CMMI and its uses, across the organisation.

Who Should Attend

Anyone who wants a detailed understand of the CMMI, including engineering process group members or personnel responsible for an organization’s process improvement program; software and systems engineers and managers; engineering educators. This course is a mandatory requirement for anyone wishing to be an Appraisal Team Member for Class A Appraisals. Successful students will receive a certificate of accreditation, and will be registered on the SEI’s team member database.

Outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

• Describe the 22 Process Areas in the CMMI
• Describe and discuss Process Area applicability for their organisation
• Understand process, capability, and maturity
• Understand both Staged and Continuous representations of the CMMI
• Understand the relationships of the Process Areas by category (Process Management, Project Management, Engineering, & Support)
